Rocket's Tim Birkmeier To Retire
Birkmeier is bidding farewell after a 28-year career at Rocket Companies.
All good things must come to an end; Rocket Mortgage President Tim Birkmeier is retiring from both Rocket Companies and the mortgage industry altogether after nearly 28 years at the Michigan-headquartered lender.
“It is with great pride that I publicly announce my retirement from Rocket Companies and the mortgage industry,” Birkmeier wrote in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.
Brikmeier's post also gave a shout-out to Rocket leaders Dan Gilbert, Bill Emerson and Jay Farner "for allowing me to have a strong leadership voice in the company."
Birkmeier held several roles during his time at Rocket Companies. After joining Rocket Mortgage in 1996 as a mortgage banker, Birkmeier worked his way up to director of mortgage banking, regional vice president and vice president of mortgage banking, before becoming chief revenue officer in 2017. In January 2022, he was named president of Rocket Mortgage, taking on the role while still holding his position as chief revenue officer.
At that time Birkmeier became responsible for all teams and initiatives that create revenue for the company, company officials said.
Rocket confirmed in a phone call with NMP that Birkmeier's last day will be at the end of the month and that his retirement was known internally for the past few months. So far, there are no plans to fill the position of president in the near future, the lender said.
Rocket's CEO Varun Krishna commented on Birkmeier's post, writing, "You leave behind a legacy of passion and dedication that will not be forgotten. Though our time together was short, the impact you made in your decades here and on me personally is immense. I cannot thank you enough for all you’ve done for Rocket and wish you nothing but the best on this next chapter in life. We are proud to carry the torch forward."
